There is NO such thing as a silver or champagne Labrador here are the facts!  Do your research before you buy a mutt - yes that is what it is a very expensive cross breed mutt.  Designer dogs NOT RARE ~ NOT a pure bred Labrador.  Pure bred Labradors only come in three colours BLACK~YELLOW~CHOCOLATE - period and do not have the dd (dilute) gene.  It is found in the Weimaraner breed of canines and now in the silver Labradors.  Please look at their colour, face and follow the trail back to the first breeder of 'Silver' and note they had both Labradors and Weinaraners.

Weimaraner's are a beautiful breed of dog but not mixed with Labradors.  Ask any Weimaraner breeder what they think of this issue,  it is ruining their beautiful breed as well.

Dog registration bodies such as CKC~Canadian Kennel Club, AKC~American Kennel Club , The Kennel Club(United Kingdom) , ANK ~ Australian National Kennel Council, Kennel Club of India, KUSA~Kennel Union of Southern Africa, UKC~United Kennel Club (United States) only recognize three colors of Labradors BLACK~YELLOW~CHOCOLATE

Why  someone  should not purchase one?

The vast majority of silver breeders do not perform necessary health clearances (OFA hip AND elbow, CERF on eyes, heart exams) and they don't compete in anything to obtain an objective opinion on whether or not their dogs are breeding quality. They also charge a lot of money simply because of the colour. Any time someone breeds based on one quality (in this case colour) they are not properly selecting breeding stock and not producing superior puppies.
